For people living with memory problems and their families, practical support matters. This research offers grounds for further investigation, but the word reversal should not be turned into a guaranteed dietary outcome.
What the research found
A 2024 phase 2 trial enrolled 51 people with mild cognitive impairment or early dementia due to Alzheimer's disease. It tested intensive lifestyle change against a wait-list usual-care group for 20 weeks. Three cognitive/function measures showed significant between-group differences; another fell short of the usual significance threshold. The programme combined diet, exercise, stress management, social support and supplements—not food alone.
The trial was small and short, with selected participants and substantial support. It cannot identify which component caused changes, establish long-term disease control or prove that ordinary plant-based meals reproduce the programme. Confirmation in larger trials is important.
Keep everyday support realistic
Suitable, familiar meals can help maintain energy, protein and enjoyment. Caregivers may need easy preparation options and appropriate assessment of swallowing or declining intake. Activity, sleep routines and social connection can be discussed with the clinical team, without using them to replace diagnosis or prescribed care.
- Maintain clinical assessment and treatment.
- Protect appetite and adequate nutrition.
- Avoid costly reversal promises.
Zhen can support practical habits within scope, not diagnose dementia or claim to reverse it. A Longevity MOT is a physical assessment, not a memory clinic, biological-age test or prediction of cognitive decline.
