FAQ | Zhen Wellness

Question 1

Where is the practice located?

Accepted Answer

Zhen Wellness is based in Onchan, Isle of Man. When you book your first appointment, Isabella will confirm the exact address by WhatsApp. There is parking on site. The practice does not operate from a shared wellness centre or gym. It is a dedicated clinical space.

Question 2

Do I need a referral from my GP?

Accepted Answer

No. You do not need a GP referral to book with Zhen Wellness. Contact Isabella directly by WhatsApp on 07624 457139 to arrange a Longevity MOT or any other appointment. If your GP has made a specific recommendation, it is useful to mention it, but it is not a requirement.

Question 3

How do I book an appointment?

Accepted Answer

WhatsApp Isabella on 07624 457139. She manages her own diary directly, which means you are speaking to the practitioner from the first contact. There is no receptionist, no booking form, and no automated system. Availability is limited each month, so early contact is advisable.

Question 4

I am not sure which service is right for me. Where do I start?

Accepted Answer

WhatsApp Isabella on 07624 457139. She will ask you two or three questions and tell you honestly whether the practice can help and where to start. There is no script, no sales process, and no obligation. If the honest answer is that Zhen Wellness is not the right fit for what you are experiencing, she will tell you that too.

Question 5

What is the Longevity MOT and should I start there?

Accepted Answer

The Longevity MOT is a 60-minute clinical assessment with Isabella covering pain mapping, postural analysis, body composition screening, and mobility evaluation. At the end you receive a specific recommendation: here is what is happening, here is what is driving it, here is what will address it and why. You are not required to proceed with any programme afterwards. The £97 fee covers the assessment itself and is not redeemable against any later service or programme. For anyone who is unsure which service applies to their situation, the Longevity MOT is the correct starting point.

Question 6

Who is Zhen Wellness for?

Accepted Answer

People on the Isle of Man looking for support with pain, strength, movement, recovery, body composition or long-term health. There is no blanket marketing age bracket: recommendations depend on your goals, health history, current capacity and the suitability of each service. An assessment helps establish what support is appropriate and whether medical advice is needed first.

Question 7

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Accepted Answer

A conversation, then an assessment. Isabella will ask you to describe what you are experiencing, how long it has been happening, what you have tried, and what you want to be able to do that you currently cannot. She will then assess the relevant areas: pain mapping, posture, body composition, mobility. At the end of the session you will have a clear clinical picture of what is driving your situation and a specific recommendation for what will address it. Bring any relevant medical history if you have it, but it is not a requirement. Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to any area you want assessed.

Question 8

How many sessions will I need?

Accepted Answer

That depends entirely on what the assessment finds. The standard programmes at Zhen Wellness run to six or eight sessions, which clinical experience and the supporting evidence base suggest is the minimum effective dose for the specific interventions used. The Longevity MOT gives you a precise picture of what is happening and a specific recommendation for how many sessions are appropriate for your situation. Programmes are not extended beyond what is clinically warranted.

Question 9

What if I just want one treatment without committing to a programme?

Accepted Answer

Some of Isabella's services, including sports and deep-tissue therapy, can be booked individually where clinically appropriate. For shockwave therapy, electrical muscle stimulation and other targeted interventions, we recommend starting with a Longevity MOT so that treatment is guided by a proper assessment rather than guesswork.

Question 10

How quickly will I see results?

Accepted Answer

That depends on the intervention and the condition being treated. Shockwave therapy typically begins to produce measurable improvement within three to four sessions for suitable musculoskeletal conditions. Electrical muscle stimulation programmes show body composition changes at the six to eight week mark in most cases. The Longevity MOT produces immediate clarity on the same day. No responsible practitioner will guarantee a timeline before assessing your specific situation. What we can say is that if a programme is clinically appropriate for what you are experiencing, you will know by the midpoint whether it is working.

Question 11

Are the results permanent?

Accepted Answer

Some are and some are not. Shockwave therapy for chronic musculoskeletal pain typically produces durable results because it addresses the underlying tissue condition rather than masking the symptom. Body composition changes require ongoing stimulus to maintain: the programme creates the foundation, but sustaining the result depends on the habits built during treatment. Isabella will be honest with you about which results you can expect to hold long-term and which require a maintenance approach.

Question 12

Is treatment covered by private health insurance?

Accepted Answer

Some private health insurers cover sports therapy, acupuncture, and clinical assessments, but coverage varies significantly between policies and providers. We recommend contacting your insurer before booking to ask specifically about sports therapy massage, shockwave therapy, acupuncture, and clinical wellness assessments. Zhen Wellness can provide a detailed invoice with treatment descriptions if your insurer requires supporting documentation.

Question 13

Can I continue seeing my GP or other specialists at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we encourage it. Zhen Wellness operates alongside conventional medical care, not instead of it. If your GP or specialist is managing a related condition, that is useful clinical context for Isabella. The interventions at Zhen Wellness complement rather than replace the care your existing medical team provides.

Question 14

What happens if the Longevity MOT finds something that needs medical attention?

Accepted Answer

If the assessment identifies something outside the scope of what Zhen Wellness can address, Isabella will tell you clearly and recommend that you speak to your GP. This is a normal part of a thorough clinical assessment. The purpose of the Longevity MOT is to give you an honest picture. If the honest picture includes a referral back to your GP, you will receive that information rather than a programme recommendation.

Question 15

What is the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are charged the full session fee. Appointment slots are limited and a late cancellation cannot be offered to another client in time. If something genuinely urgent arises, contact Isabella or Gillian as soon as possible by WhatsApp.
