Migraine can disrupt work, movement and meals. Food deserves attention, but an exhaustive trigger list may create more restriction than benefit. An individual pattern is more useful than a universal ban.

What the research found

A 42-person crossover trial tested a low-fat vegan phase followed by an elimination phase against a supplement comparison. Worst headache pain improved more during the dietary period, but average headache frequency did not differ significantly. Average intensity also did not show a significant between-treatment difference. Methodological issues and the small sample limit certainty; the findings are not proof that plants prevent all migraines.

The study changed more than one dietary feature, making the separate effect of vegan eating unclear. Participants could not be blinded to their diet, and crossover carryover may matter. It cannot justify dismissing effective modern migraine medicines or claiming all headache treatments are unsafe.

Support a steady routine

Regular, adequate meals, suitable hydration and a simple symptom diary can help discussions with your healthcare team. Review possible individual triggers rather than automatically excluding every common suspect. If restrictions become extensive, get appropriate dietetic advice to protect energy, protein and micronutrients.

  • Keep prescribed migraine treatment.
  • Record patterns without excessive food policing.
  • Avoid expensive cure supplements.

Sudden severe headache or new neurological symptoms needs urgent assessment. Zhen can support ordinary food habits but cannot diagnose migraine, prescribe its treatment or promise the trial's symptom changes.
