Brain health is not just about memory exercises. Blood vessels supply the brain, making vascular health relevant too. High blood pressure may cause no obvious symptoms, so feeling well is not a reliable test. Appropriate measurement and clinical advice matter more than a reassuring biological-age score.
A trial with different cognitive outcomes
SPRINT MIND studied adults with hypertension but without diabetes or previous stroke. Intensive blood-pressure treatment reduced mild cognitive impairment, but the reduction in probable dementia was not statistically significant. The trial stopped early for cardiovascular benefit, leaving limitations in the dementia analysis. These different outcomes should not be merged into a claim that treatment definitely prevents dementia.
The trial's lower pressure target was used within a supervised clinical protocol. It is not a universal target to pursue independently. Medicines, symptoms, frailty and other conditions affect an individual's plan. Do not change doses or try to lower pressure aggressively through fasting or dehydration.
Get a reliable measurement, then the right interpretation
A single reading can be influenced by circumstances and may need repeat or out-of-office assessment. NHS guidance explains that blood-pressure testing helps identify high or low readings and directs clinical follow-up. The availability of local services on the Isle of Man should be checked rather than assumed from England-specific arrangements.
- Keep clinical reviews and prescribed treatment on track.
- Tell your clinician about dizziness or other symptoms.
- Discuss activity and nutrition alongside medicines.
- Avoid using a wearable as a replacement for assessment.
Zhen can support manageable movement and lifestyle habits, but the Longevity MOT is not a replacement for blood-pressure diagnosis or prescribing. A coordinated plan respects medical risk management while helping make everyday changes realistic.
Putting this into practice at Zhen
At Zhen Wellness in Onchan, Isle of Man, we help you turn health information into realistic next steps. The £97 Longevity MOT is a standalone 60-minute assessment of your history, priorities, posture, mobility and body composition estimates, with pain mapping where relevant. It is not a biological-age blood test, medical diagnosis or prediction of lifespan. Any further service is chosen separately around your needs, with costs discussed before you decide.
Research and safety

This article is general education, not individual medical advice. Adult fasting or exercise protocols are not suitable instructions for children.
